DNA Paternity Testing / Infidelity Testing

DNA Parentage Testing is the most reliable and powerful method of proving or disproving parentage. It conclusively answers difficult questions, resolves disputes, helps streamline court proceedings and facilitates pretrial settlements.

Testing is based on a highly accurate analysis of the genetic profiles of the mother, child and alleged father. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), the unique genetic blueprint within each nucleated cell in the body, determines a person's genetic pattern and individual characteristics. A child inherits half of this DNA pattern from the mother and half from the father. If the mother's and child's patterns are known, the father's can be deduced with virtual certainty.

Infidelity Testing

Great Lakes Biomedical has recently begun offering state of the art DNA infidelity testing for people who have questions regarding a personal relationship in the Northwest Ohio area. This new service is expected to help many people in the area answer one of life’s most unpleasant questions, is my significant other being faithful.

Reliable statistics on the frequency of marital infidelity are hard to come by, however one expert, Peggy Vaughan, author of The Monogamy Myth, estimates that 60 percent of husbands and 40 percent of wives will have an affair at some point in their marriage. Less than 10 percent of people who have affairs marry their lovers and 17 percent of divorces in the United States are caused by infidelity.

This service is now being offered by Great Lakes Biomedical to help answer this private and personal question for people in the area. Currently there are two techniques that can be utilized to characterize a suspicious stain found on clothing or other materials. Items can be analyzed to determine the presence of a man’s semen on an object and items with bodily fluid stains can often be DNA tested.

The DNA profile that can often be obtained from these objects utilizes the same technology used by police agencies around the globe. This DNA profile can then be compared to a DNA profile from a known source, such as from a razor or cigarette butt, to help determine the source of a suspicious stain.

Although no one wants to be involved with a cheating spouse or partner, the facts are that a high percentage of individuals involved in a relationship may some day be the unwitting partner to an unfaithful significant other. The incredible power of DNA testing technology and advances in this type of testing has now made infidelity an affordable and fast solution to the age old question, can I trust him or her.

Are my results legally admissible?

Great Lakes Biomedical uses labs accredited by the AABB, and CLIA. Our reports are recognized by courts in the U.S. and most countries. Our test results are routinely 10 to 1,000 times more accurate than what the court requires for proof of parentage.

To ensure a strict chain-of-custody, all parties are positively identified and photographed when samples are collected. A notarized test report will be sent to all tested parties and attorneys if requested.
